In Canterbury there is a really lovely place called Kitch. They have really classic brunches with poached eggs, salmon, avocado and all that good stuff. But something that really stands out in there is the interesting drink choices with twists on classics. Last time I was there I ordered a strawberry basil Smoothie and loved it! So thought I'd give it a go myself.
Strawberry basil smoothie

Ingredients:
1 1/2 handfulls of Strawberries
4 leaves of Basil
200ml of milk ( If you want to make this Vegan replace this for some Ice cubes)
Strawberry Actimel (optional)
Half an avocado ( This is to thicken it, you can use a banana, but an advacado keeps the flavour just Strawberry and basil)

Although this is technically a recipe, I don't really feel the need to write instructions! You literally just chuck it all in a blender- just make sure that the basil is torn up into really small pieces. There's nothing more to say than that really. You don't need a special blender since there's nothing in there which is particularly hard to blend, so just your bog standard blender will sort out a nice smoothie for you.

Let me know what you think of this idea! I really love the idea of contrasting flavours and hopefully at some point I'll be able to come up with my own original ideas soon too!
