2016 was an odd year, but I'm going to save the recap for a video going over what happened.  I'm looking forward to the New Year and although I do try to think of ways to improve myself in every aspect- there is something quite motivational about the thought of a new year to try again. I've come up with a few bits I want to do, but this year I'm going to be reviewing them every 2 months and see how I'm doing. I'll pop these on the wall, to serve as a constant reminder.

1. Stretch every day for 15 mins

I am incredibly inflexible and can't even touch my knee caps, let alone my toes. This does have knock on effects, with my back constantly aching and having knots. I read in glamour magazine that 15 mins of stretching each day can give you much better posture. It's incredibly do able and I can do it in front of the TV, listening to music or as a way to unwind just before bed. I know that 'getting fit' is a very generic New year's resolution, but by making it measurable and focused on one aspect in particular- I really hope I can achieve this. Particularly as I'll notice the results on a daily bases.

2. Save 3K towards a house

2017 is set to be a pivotal year for myself, as I'm leaving full time education and stepping into the real world, (Scary, scary) I had always planned to rent straight after university, but due to myself finishing at different times to my friends and Scott wanting to  take on a music course, It's going to be a little trickier than I imagined, so I'll probably have to move back home for a bit. For someone with no constant income 3,000 seems like a lot. But I think I can do it. Every bit of money which I make as 'extra' I'll put into savings. Gifts, payments from off jobs, ebay money. Working over these holidays has enabled me to pay off my overdraft and be able to use all of my student loan. Essentially the end of January will be a clean slate for me financially. £3,000 works out to be £250 a month and there's no real way I'd be able to do that. So it will have to be lump sums of things. But I'm sure I'll figure something out.

3. Give myself a day a week to Blog/ Youtube

I think I mentioned in one of my last life updates how I felt that I was so busy, blogging and youtubing made me feel guilty. NO MORE OF THIS. I'm going to make time for it now, properly. I saw a quote on instagram which said every time you say you don't have time replace the word time with priority. ' Sorry I don't have time to come to dinner' to ' Sorry I can't come to dinner as it isn't a priority' If it doesn't sound right then it probably isn't. I need to start prioritising rather than spending allocated time. If I spend time prioritising my assignments, it should mean that I have time to spare for blogging and youtube.

4. Have 2 hours free of social media/ youtube/ phone a day

I personally do not think that ' social media' is making us anti social if you use it correctly. I'm starting to slip into habits of literally doing nothing on my phone. I want to become more productive and use my time more effeciently, and I think a big way of doing this is to have some time away from my phone. Whether that's watching youtube videos when I'm getting ready, or just scrolling through facebook in lectures. I really think this resoultion will kill a lot of birds with one stone. It will make me more productive, improve my focus and just generally make me think of other things to do.

5. Call my family and friends more often

I am rubbish at keeping in contact with people which is surprising considering how much time I spend on social media. My home friends have a group chat which we use to keep in contact with, but when it comes to individually messaging people- I'm not great. I'll spontaneously ask on the day if anyone's avaliable but never book anything in advance. I need to call my family once a week and friends just message to see how they are.

I've wrote down just five resolutions although realistically there's probably a lot more. This year is set to be a big one, with finishing my degree and hopefully getting my first job! Hopefully each of these small steps will help lead to becoming more productive with my time and prioritising what's important to myself.
